Job Summary:  Responsible for the continuous effective operations of the nursing unit. Responsible for delivery of quality patient care and compliance with all regulatory agencies. Manages staff members and consults with physicians and CNO on nursing issues and interpretation of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met. Maintain performance improvement activities within the department.

 

Responsible for Planning the Operations of the Department/Unit:  Plans the allocation of resources and develops departmental policies and procedures consistent with the organization’s mission and goals.

 

Directs Department Services:  Selects and assigns department staff in a manner consistent with scope of services provided.  Assesses qualifications and competency of staff, completes performance reviews on timely basis according to established guidelines. 

Responsible for Adhering to Fiscal Guidelines:  Collaborates with appropriate staff in the development of departmental budget.  Consistently operates within budgetary goals in areas of labor and other operating expenses.

 

Assures Departmental Compliance with Joint Commission Standards, Federal/State/Local Regulatory Guidelines:  Assures that all licensure and certifications are current.  Monitors department operations for compliance with all standards, codes, regulations and laws in effect.  Keeps abreast of mandated changes in regulations/standards and makes operational changes as necessary.

 

Responsible for Improving Quality of Services:  Establishes expectations and plans, sets priorities and manages processes to measure, assess and implement improvements to services provided.  



Qualifications

Qualifications:

·         Current California Registered Nurse Licensure required.

·         Min five (5) years acute care experience required.

·         Three (3) or more years of previous supervisory experience in acute care hospital case management required.

Language Skills:

·         Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

·         Good computer knowledge, familiar with scheduling and word processing programs.

·         Able to type 40 wpm.

Qualifications:

·         Current California Registered Nurse Licensure required.
